Optical Character Recognition

Hi,

FreeFileConvert now supports OCR (Optical Character Recognition) for following formats:

pdf -> txt
jpg -> txt
bmp -> txt
gif -> txt
png -> txt
tif -> txt
tiff -> txt

OCR is a technology which converts your scanned images into searchable text, so now using FreeFileConvert OCR support you can convert your scanned files into text files, which we hope will help many people. However our OCR conversion is designed to convert only typewritten text in English language, so processing documents which contain handwriting or language other than English will not produce satisfactory results.

If you find any problems doing OCR using FreeFileConvert, please let us know as this conversion is still in beta and we would like to hear from you.

YouTube Conversion Fixed

Hi Guys,

As most of you would have noticed today that YouTube conversion was broken this was because YouTube again changed it's backend for videos, however we have fixed this problem now and it should be working again but if you still find any problem in conversion please let us know.

Best browser to use is FireFox for FreeFileConvert

Hi,

I'm getting some complains from users that the site doesn't display correctly, what I would suggest is to use Firefox 3 or above as this site has been optimized for Firefox and works best on it, however it should also work fine on Internet Explorer 7 or above.

YouTube Conversions Fixed!

The YouTube conversoin was broken from last two days however it should have been fixed now actually YouTube made a minor change in their system because of which the conversions from YouTube were broken which should be fixed now, please let me know if there's any problem.

mkv, asf, au and 3g2 are supported

On request of many users FreeFileConvert now supports conversion from mkv into other video formats, we have also added conversion to/from asf, au and 3g2 formats.

Video/Audio File Conversion Directly from URL

Hi,

We have added support to convert video or audio files directly from URL, just enter full URL of your video or audio file (Ending with extension: flv, mpg, mpeg, 3gp, aac, ac3, flac, mp3, mp4, wav, dvd, rm, swf, avi, mov or wmv) in "Download Video" tab then select output format and convert it.
